Chicago Booth MBA Application Question #1: How will the Booth MBA help you achieve your immediate and long-term post-MBA career goals? (250 words minimum, no maximum)

First of all, describe your short and long term career aspirations. Discuss your goals in details: industry, job roles, locations, what you expect to do, possible challenges you expect and so on. Additionally, please mention what inspires you to accomplish these goals. Ask yourself why you wish to accomplish these goals instead of doing something else.

However, keep in mind that the real focus of this question is not your short and long term career goals. It’s rather how Chicago Booth will assist you to achieve these goals. Do an extensive research on Booth’s offerings. Attend webinars, network with students and alumni, visit the Booth campus, talk to admission officers, attend any admission event, basically try your hands on everything that is possible to acquire an in-depth knowledge about the Chicago Booth MBA program. You will be astonished at the depth and breadth of their course offerings. Though famous as a predominantly finance school, Booth has world class faculty members across all departments. The real challenge will be to cherry-pick the most relevant resources (such as core and elective courses, professors, projects, clubs and so on) and pen down effectively in just 250 words about how these resources will assist you to achieve your career goals.

How to differentiate yourself from other Chicago Booth applicants? Just conduct real research than merely browsing their website. Networking with current students to discuss your career plans and how Booth might help you is my chosen method of research. I have observed from my experience as an admission consultant that this method yields far better result than any other method. But, do try out all other options in order to know Chicago Booth MBA program really well. An intense research will undoubtedly assist you to create a master piece.



Chicago Booth MBA Application Question #2: An MBA is as much about personal growth as it is about professional development. In addition to sharing your experience and goals in terms of career, we’d like to learn more about you outside of the office. Use this opportunity to tell us something about who you are… (Minimum 250 words, no maximum.)

Chicago Booth wants to know the person behind the application. You need to share few stories or few aspects of your personality that defines who you are. It could be stories that showcases your values and beliefs, life changing experiences, personal success or failure that offered you eye opening lessons, events from your childhood that left an indelible mark on your soul and so on. You can also narrate stories that shows your passion on any broader issues such as global warming, sustainability, poverty, literacy, or pollution that you deeply care about.

Chicago Booth MBA Optional Essay Question: Is there any unclear information in your application that needs further explanation? (300 words maximum)

This question is way different from most of the other reapplication essay questions. Most B-schools focuses on what more you have done since your last application and how you are a better applicant this time. But Chicago Booth wishes to know how your perspectives have changed on your career aspirations, the need for an MBA and the role Booth might play in your career. They want to see how you have matured as a leader and as a human being. Narrate elaborately how you have evolved in your career. Show them how that has matured your goals and refined your logic of attending the Chicago Booth MBA program. Finally, let this essay also reveal that you meet Chicago’s criteria better this year than last.
